Why do you need a water treatment system?

Gasses and organic compounds can impart foul odors, objectionable tastes or cause a gross slimy buildup. Sulphur and methane are two gasses that occur naturally in the far west Chicago suburbs. Sulphur is said to smell like rotten eggs. Methane resembles old garbage or bath room odors. Either can vary from mild to overpowering, even from one day, or week till the next, depending on the changes in barometric pressure.

Decayed organic matter that leach tannins and other organic compounds, from oak leaves and other vegetable material can turn water a greenish or brownish color that normal filters will not remove. There is also a bacteria that occurs in many local wells that carries and passes along a red stain from the iron in the water where it grows. This bacteria, while not harmful to health, will produce a bubbly, slimy or sometimes jelly like buildup in toilet tanks. It is not only disgustingly gross, but also produces stains that require special cleaning products and procedures to temporarily eradicate. This "organic iron" as we call it, cannot be removed by softeners or iron filters, it also tends to clog those devices, making them less effective and sometimes causing them to fail entirely.

We have charcoal filters that will handle most taste problems and small to moderate odor situations. Our solution feeders using hydrogen peroxide to "burn-up" high amounts of gasses or organics can be used in conjunction with charcoal filtration to solve even extremely bad water born odor or organic problems.
